Emrand Henry singer/songwriter hails from the Caribbean Island of St. Lucia. He was discovered at a singing competition, “Cable & Wireless Starquest” in 2003 where he won with his original composition “What is going on?” This award became the gateway to many opportunities for the young and upcoming artiste who as part of his winnings, made a special guest appearance on BET’s 106 & Park. Since then he has had many a main stage performance regionally and internationally which has given him the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Sherwin Gardner, Monty G, Maxi Priest, Christafari and Prodigal to name a few.In October 2008 he launched his 15 track CD “No Retreat, No Surrender” produced by Francis “Leebo” DeLima of Heights Studio in St. Lucia. He continued to release many singles with various producers nationally, regionally and internationally, so hence his songs have been getting airplay globally.
In February 2010 he became a fulltime professional artiste and traveled to United States of America and Canada for a six month stint. He took part in a concert in Montreal and shared the stage with Jamaican Juniour Tucker and so continued to expand his fan base. Emrand had a wonderful experience going into studio with Jamaican producer Stephen Murphy in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he released his second album “Line Up Di Troops Dem”. The nickname for this album is the St. Lucia–Jamaica connection due to the collaboration with some of Jamaica’s top Gospel artistes which enabled his fan base to grow in the Jamaican community. Whilst in New York performing at Gospel concerts and church services and functions he won two awards. On June 5, 2010 he was given an Award by the City of New York for unique personal achievement in his professional endeavours. It was quoted “The city recognized that they have an outstanding citizen, one with worthy of the esteem of both community and the great city of New York”.
The second award he received on June 6, 2010 whilst performing at the prestigious annual Hopeton Lewis Caribbean Gospel Music Awards also in New York.On returning to St. Lucia in July for the “Home Coming Concert” put on by the Government of St. Lucia, Emrand took the opportunity to promote his new album and traveled to Trindad & Tobago where he has a large fan base, to do the same.Spending a few months there, as this is like his second home, he was promoted frequently in the media and performed in many concerts including a Youth Concert in Tobago which was a fund raiser for Haiti. Touring with well known artiste Issac Blackman, was a very high point of his career, as this brought him all around Trinidad performing at churches, gospel concerts and clubs. Whilst there, he was featured on the cover of a couple of magazines and performed at a book launching.On going back to the USA in early 2011, Emrand was in great demand by the churches in the wider New York, Maryland and Washington D.C. areas and performed in New York with Right Side Up Entertainment and sharing the stage with the Area 51 Rap Group from Washington D.C.
He is currently in St. Lucia working on his new album and videos and is getting ready to do some regional touring whilst in his homeland.
Emrand prides himself in singing only original compositions, which has made him to be a household name in St. Lucia and many other countries. His lyrics always carry positive and uplifting messages in a variety of genres e.g. Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, R&B and Zouk. His diversity allows him to reach out to every culture and demographic.
